Full-time Training Officer Required

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Post:                                        Training Officer

 

Wages:                                    £28 – £30k (pro rata) dependant on experience

                                                                       

Hours of Work:                     9.00 am – 5.00 pm Monday – Friday

                                               

Location:                                Tayside Re-Users, South Dudhope Mill, Dundee

 

Length of Contract:              6 months in the first instance – NB: First 16 weeks are probationary period

 

Annual Leave:                       28 days per year including public holidays

 

Responsible To:                     Business Manager and Board of Trustees

 

Purpose of the Post:              To initiate, develop, co-ordinate and deliver a range of accredited employment and training activities within the organisation

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

 

Ensure the effective delivery of a cost-effective service incorporating the following key responsibilities:

 

  • To initiate and deliver a comprehensive and innovative range of quality employment training activities to reflect the differing needs of the trainees.
  • To work with the staff in identifying the training opportunities for the trainees within the organisation.
  • To seek out partners and external organisations willing to avail of the training opportunities.
  • To identify and prepare the necessary modules and training materials required for SVQ qualifications.
  • To work with staff/trainees in identifying barriers including undertaking appropriate assessments to assist in the compilation of individual training and development plans.
  • To work with trainees to identify their potential employment aim and skill development needs leading to a tailored pathway of training, skills development and work experience.
  • To effectively provide advice, guidance and support to trainees including appropriate sign-posting and referral, improving access to information and assist trainees through the maze of decisions regarding training and employment opportunities.
  • To ensure compliance with all contractual and funding agreements.
  • To contribute to claims processes and performance management reports accurately and on time to ensure maximum claims against contracts.
  • To ensure Health & Safety policies, procedures, standards and records are adhered to and maintained in all aspects of the post holder’s activities.
  • To keep up to date with all training and labour market programmes and policies to ensure accurate and in-depth knowledge.
  • To establish and maintain appropriate internal and external contacts relevant to the responsibilities of the post.
  • To liaise with all relevant agencies regarding training placements, ensuring that

all documentation is prepared and recorded accurately.

  • To liaise with external agencies such SQA and SDS when necessary

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

  • Educated in a relevant discipline and/or membership of an appropriate professional body.  Alternatively a background and proven track record in Training is essential.
  • Training qualification at SVQ Level 3/4 accredited by the SQA or a H.E.College or a CE 7407 or equivalent.
  • Must be innovative, task orientated and have excellent communication skills and be computer literate.
  • Must have proven experience in delivering training initiatives within an agreed quality framework.
  • Must have proven track record in co-ordinating and managing high quality training initiatives for young people.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised and have excellent time management skills
  • Ability to formally assess and verify training would be an advantage

 

Accountability

 

  • The post holder is directly accountable to the Business Manager.
  • The post holder is accountable for the management and maintenance of records, files and plans in respect of all trainees.
  • The post holder will contribute to the development of training programmes, practices, polices and procedure to ensure that Tayside Re-Users is at the forefront of best practice.
  • The post holder is accountable for ensuring that appropriate training, work experience and support is in place for trainees, contributing to increased skills and employability.
  • The post holder is accountable for ensuring compliance with all systems, policies and procedures.

Part-time Spray Painter required

Job Title                                          Spray painter/ Powdercoat operator- Part time

Job Description
Experienced spray painter/ powdercoat operator required.

Tayside Re-Users is looking for an experienced Spray Painter/Powdercoat Operator.  This is on a sessional worker basis and would ideally suit a retired person or someone working part-time, but we welcome applicants from all qualified persons. As a registered charity, Tayside Re-Users is interested in passing on useful skills to young people and as such the post holder would be required to tutor young people and pass on some basic skills to them.   Tayside Re-Users Training Officer would support the Operator in those aspects of the job.
Job Tasks:
Set up and maintain spray and associated equipment.
Prepare parts for painting using abrasives and hand tools.
Repair defects on components when required.
Degrease & prime parts using relevant techniques and equipment.
Apply wet paint and powder to parts to achieve desired finishes.
Ensure quality is maintained to required standard.
Ensure jobs are delivered on time.
Follow strict safety regulations to use potentially hazardous materials safely.
Keep work area clean, tidy and safe.

Maintain records of time required to perform each job.
Any other duties associated with this role.
Tutoring Tasks:

 

Ensure trainees are wearing the correct PPE

Record the timekeeping details of the trainees

Supervise the trainees during the tasks allocated to them

Advise and assist the trainees with any task you allocate to them

Ensure trainees operate safely and securely

Work with the Training Officer to oversee the trainees progress

 

Experience Essential Desirable
  Experience within a paint shop environment Experience of working with trainees
  Experience of applying coatings to different materials Experience of SVQ’s
  Experience of preparing materials for painting-including filling and sanding etc. Experience of paperwork and admin
  Experience of being responsible for quality of workmanship.

Tayside Re-Users is looking for a fully qualified and experienced Upholsterer.  This is on a sessional worker basis and would be ideally suit a retired person or someone working part-time, but we welcome applicants from all suitable persons. As a registered charity, Tayside Re-Users is interested in passing on useful skills to young people and as such the post holder would be required to tutor young people and pass on some basic skills to them.   Tayside Re-Users Training Officer would support the Upholsterer in those aspects of the job.

Job Tasks:
Co-Ordinate fabrics and furniture
Prepare furniture for upholstery.
Repair furniture frames and refinish exposed wood.
Adjust or replace webbing, padding, springs using webbing stretchers.

Maintain records of time required to perform each job.
Ensure quality is maintained to required standard.
Ensure jobs are delivered on time.
Follow strict safety regulations to use potentially hazardous materials safely.
Keep work area clean, tidy and safe.
Any other duties associated with this role.
